Spongy (Gypsy) Moths are a Real Problem in Thornhill
Our neighbourhood trees are at serious risk! High levels of gypsy moth caterpillars impact a tree's health. The number of gypsy moth egg mass sightings in 2021 have become alarming. The Thornhill community can expect a moderate defoliation of certain types of trees this year including tree mortality.
Are you able to identify these egg masses? Do you know what to do or what to recommend to a neighbour whose tree may have gypsy moths? Once you know what you are looking for, they become easy to spot and take care of, if you can reach them!
